Travel: Our Impromptu Trip to Pundaquit, Zambales

April 25, 2017

So me, my partner and two other friends from Benilde decided that we are so sick of the city-life, all the work that needs to be done in the office and whatnot, so we decided to go to the beach for a little peace and quiet.

Starting things of, the four of us contributed atleast 1.5k per person with total a budget of 6,000 (which we weren't able to spend all) I'll add the breakdown of expenses bellow;

Meet my trusted stead! Elmo, my 3.2 Ford Wildtrak

At first we could not find our way since google maps or waze cannot register off road car trails, and we found ourselves experimenting on where and which way to go. Luckly we found this beach resort named VILLA JANELLA BEACH RESORT which offers everything we could ever want in a beach resort.

They had a swimming pool, karaoke, grilling stations, cabanas, etc. The rooms are quite typical but very spacious and clean, they even have a porch per room that is often used for eating and drinking alcohol which is very nice.

Upon checking in we immediately went to the town market to buy meat, fish, breakfast food and other stuff we need in able to survive and not starve. None of us really know how to transact in public markets so we tried our best to haggle for the best price and additional pieces of fish and meat. (IMPORTANT LIFE LESSON!! DONT BUY FISH WHEN IT’S ALREADY 12nn, most of them are no longer fresh, much to our disappointment after cooking it) We manage to do away with just spending 500php at the market, as we already brought along with us rice, utencils, cooking stuff, instant noodles and a rice cooker from our homes.

Dom and I grilled tilapyas, liempo, and eggplants, while Maida prepared all necessary ingredients for cooking. (Jeff was asleep cuz night shift :)))

The view is spectacular and you can see other islands from afar. The sea water is not clear but it’s workable, and the sand is very fine.

The resort also offered a island hoping tour to Anawangin cove and alike, but they were not able to do because it started to rain really hard so we decided to just tour around Subic.

Our first stop was at MEAT PLUS (I will write a thorough review about meat plus very soon) and the food was delicious, here’s a little sneak peak of the food that we ordered, NOTE TO ALL: this is not a budget friendly restaurant however we decided to just eat there anyway since we still have a lot of money left on our budget

Then we went to the barracks thinggy (so so sorry I forgot what it’s called) and went back to the parking to get some dirty ice cream, I remember us debating on what flavor the green ice cream was, pistachio, avocado, mint was thrown at the table but upon tasting it, it was definitely avocado hahaha

It was definitely a fun experience for us, and we went home feeling happy
